Emily Benn appointed chair of the board of governors of Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Hakluyt is delighted that Emily Benn, a colleague in our London office, has been appointed chair of the board of governors of Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Guildhall School is a leader in providing lifelong learning opportunities in the arts, and is consistently ranked among the top educational institutions of its kind in the world. The board of governors is responsible for setting the strategic direction of Guildhall School and overseeing the conduct of its business, including effective management, legal compliance and financial performance.

Commenting on her appointment, Emily said: “Since the moment I first picked up a violin aged five, music and the performing arts have been the great passion of my life. It has been a real joy to be a governor of Guildhall School over the past two years, and it is now the highest honour to have been appointed chair. I look forward to building on the work we’ve already done to ensure that all our students are able to experience the pleasures and benefits of a world-class education in the performing arts.”

Professor Jonathan Vaughan, principal of Guildhall School of Music & Drama, added: “Emily has already made a huge contribution to our board of governors over the past two years, and I am delighted that she will be chair of the board going forward. A very talented musician herself, I know that Emily will bring her outstanding experience not just of the performing arts, but also of the private and public sectors, as we strive to deliver the highest standards of artistic education.”
